Officially Filed!

As we transition from Black History Month into Women's History Month, this toddler mom and first-time candidate has officially filed to run for the Baltimore City Board of Education! We are making history by participating in the first school board election in Baltimore City!

Through conversations I have had with education experts, I have learned that engaging the parents of toddlers is a crucial part of improving enrollment and keeping families living and thriving in Baltimore. I want to bring my experience in community outreach and engagement to our school board. We need to rethink the ways in which we engage, and we must do this by prioritizing those people who are hardest to reach. Residents know exactly how to improve Baltimore City Public Schools and boost morale. We just need to create opportunities for them to give that feedback. I have already started that process. My platform was carefully crafted by conversations and suggestions by community members.

I love this city. If we can lean into having tough conversations and bringing everyone to the table to build towards necessary solutions together, we will create a school system through which everyone feels empowered. One of the reasons my family and I bought our home in Violetville is because of the neighborhood school. We need all students to have the best education possible, regardless of their neighborhood.

We need every school to open, and for funding to move to correct systemic divestment from schools. I have seen school closures result in divestment in surrounding neighborhoods, and I want to build towards reinvestment with all of you.

My vision is to move beyond a whole student approach to a whole family approach. I also have experienced what an amazing impact school-based wellness centers can have on an entire community.

On this historic day, I am asking my friends, family, supporters, and legislators to support my campaign. This is a citywide race, and we need to buy supplies to reach as many voters as possible. We have over seventy volunteers signed up who are just waiting to be mobilized!
